Replacement of flexible ventilation duct

Service Description

Replacement of the kitchen's flexible ventilation duct (aluminium flex or concertina duct) with rigid spiral-seam duct. Flexible ducts are common in kitchen ventilation because they are easy to install, but thin aluminium flex ducts collect grease and dust and do not withstand proper cleaning - grease and dust accumulating in the exhaust duct can create a fire hazard. Under current guidance, aluminium flex ducts are not suitable as ventilation ducts: according to the Finnish Ministry of the Environment decree 848/2017 and the fire safety guide for ventilation installations that applies it, a duct must withstand heat and cleaning. Steel spiral-seam duct complies with current good building practice, is tight and can be cleaned by brushing. Certified steel flexible ducts also exist on the market, but an uncertified thin aluminium duct does not meet current guidance. The price includes: removal and disposal of the old duct, installation of the new spiral-seam duct (max 3 metres), all materials, and travel costs. The price does not include: wall penetrations or installations over 3 metres. These are billed separately. Work steps: 1. The spice cabinet or other obstacle is removed to access the duct. 2. The old flex duct is removed. 3. The new spiral-seam duct and the necessary parts are installed. 4. The spice cabinet is reattached. 5. System operation is tested. The installation typically takes about four hours.
